Cheers (TV Series) (1982) is a beloved sitcom that aired from 1982 to 1993, spanning 11 seasons and 276 episodes. The show revolves around a lively Boston bar named Cheers, owned by Sam Malone, a former pitcher for the Boston Red Sox whose baseball career was cut short due to alcoholism. Sam's trusted employee, Ernie "Coach" Pantusso, and the bar's tough waitress, Carla, help keep the place running smoothly. Among the regular patrons are Norm Peterson, an accountant who frequently escapes his wife Vera by spending time at Cheers, and Cliff Clavin, a mailman known for his irritatingly conceited demeanor.
Sam is a notorious womanizer, believing no woman can resist his charms. Diane Chambers, a graduate student, enters the scene after being dumped by her boyfriend and finds herself working as a waitress at Cheers. Despite Sam's initial attraction to Diane, her disdain for his arrogance keeps them apart. Their relationship evolves over time, leading to a breakup and Diane's subsequent involvement with psychiatrist Frasier Crane. Just as they are about to marry, Diane leaves Frasier and returns to Cheers.
Following the passing of the actor who played Coach, a new character, Woody Boyd, is introduced. Sam and Diane eventually become engaged, but Sam encourages Diane to pursue her dream of becoming a writer. Sam later sells the bar to a corporation and, needing a job, attempts to secure a position from the new manager, Rebecca Howe. Despite his initial advances, Rebecca resists Sam's efforts for a while. Ultimately, Sam buys back the bar and appoints Rebecca as the manager.
