True Confession (1937) follows the unconventional couple, Helen and Ken, where Helen has a peculiar habit of lying, and Ken, a lawyer, is known for his unwavering honesty, which often leads to his professional struggles. Helen secures a new position, but when her employer is discovered deceased, all signs point to her involvement. She faces a murder trial, with Ken acting as her defense attorney. Despite Helen's insistence on her innocence, Ken believes she is fabricating another lie and urges her to claim self-defense. Throughout the trial, a mysterious and eccentric figure named Charlie lurks around the courtroom and jail, making unsettling remarks and noises. After Helen is cleared of the charges, Charlie attempts to exploit the situation for his own gain.
