Whistling in Brooklyn (1943) follows the thrilling escapades of Wally Benton, a renowned detective known as "The Fox" on the radio. As he prepares to embark on a romantic getaway to Niagara Falls with his beloved, an unexpected twist unfolds. His valet inadvertently reveals to a journalist that Benton is "Constant Reader," an enigmatic figure who has been leaking information about murders and body locations to the press, causing the police to appear incompetent. The police, convinced that "Constant Reader" is the actual murderer, launch a relentless pursuit of Benton. The chase leads through desolate warehouses and abandoned mansions, with Benton not only evading the police but also the real "Constant Reader." As the stakes escalate, Benton must outwit both the authorities and the true culprit to protect his fiancée, his assistant, and the reporter, all while trying to solve the crime before anyone else meets a tragic end.
