McGregor stars in this tepid thriller as a law student moonlighting as a security guard at a morgue. Meanwhile, a vicious serial killer is prowling the city, preying on prostitutes, whose bodies keep crowding the morgue. Is McGregor the killer? Is it the slightly loopy former security guard? Or Ewan's amoral, thrill-seeking best friend? How about the creepy cop on the case? The answer, unfortunately, is fairly obvious and uninspired. Director Bornedal (who cowrote with Steven Soderbergh) here remakes his own overrated 1994 Danish chiller Nattevagten, and sadly, delivers a carbon copy of that film, carrying its same flaws -- an illogical plot, a slack pace, and most damaging, extremely unlikable characters and needlessly unpleasant situations.
