Golden Gloves (1940) is a boxing drama that was produced with the complete support of the Golden Gloves Tournament Association. The film features Richard Denning as Bill Crane, a talented boxer with a promising future. Crane faces a moral dilemma when he is offered a deal by the corrupt Joe Taggerty to participate in a series of rigged fights. However, his path is redirected by Wally Matson, a sportswriter and organizer of the local Golden Gloves program, who helps Crane stay true to his principles. Taggerty, seeking revenge, arranges for Crane to face a seasoned professional, but Crane's determination and skill prove too much for his opponent. The film also features a charming heroine and a notable debut performance by Crane's cunning ring adversary.
