Winter's Child

Assayas' second feature, L'Enfant de l'hiver, also has as its beginning a dissolution, as Stéphane, a struggling architect, suddenly leaves his pregnant girlfriend Natalia. At that stage Stéphane has been involved for a while in an on-and-off affair with Sabine, a stage set designer tortured by her physical attraction for and affective dependency on an up-and-coming actor and manipulative seducer, Bruno.
