The Palace is a documentary that follows the everyday life of seventeen women who live together, sharing a large house for emotional and financial reasons. They help each other to train for various jobs. Most become nannies, domestic workers and private nurses for elderly patients. Director's statement I wanted to see how these women managed to live together under such difficult circumstances. I found a house that was much more peaceful than I had envisioned. Throughout the filming process we were careful to shoot the everyday life and training that many of the women went through to find a job. As we tried to capture the essence of the place, our presence altered the way it functioned to a degree that was impossible to assess.
