The Sapphires (2012) unfolds in 1968, a year marked by global turmoil, including riots, revolutions, and the Vietnam War. Amidst this chaos, four talented Aboriginal women from a distant mission—sisters Gail, Julie, and Cynthia, along with their cousin Kay—find their lives transformed. They are discovered by Dave, a struggling Irish musician with a penchant for Irish whiskey and a knack for soul music. Dave guides the girls away from their country and western roots and takes them to the battlefields of South Vietnam, where they perform soul classics for American Marines. As they tour the Mekong Delta, the girls navigate the dangers of war, captivate audiences with their powerful performances, and experience the complexities of love.
