The Murder Man (1935) follows Steve Grey, a tenacious reporter for the Daily Star, who consistently outpaces his competitors in breaking news. When Henry Mander is suspected of murdering his dubious business associate, Grey's investigative prowess puts him ahead of the police, even allowing him to draft his stories before events unfold. His meticulous work leads to Mander's swift trial, conviction, and death sentence. Mary Shannon, a columnist and Grey's admirer, witnesses his internal turmoil as he prepares his final story before Mander's execution. As she types out his dictated notes, she uncovers a shocking revelation.
