Based on the popular 1904 novel by W. H. Hudson, this valiant attempt to bring mystical realism and fantasy to the screen falls somewhat flat. Abel, son of a murdered government official escapes into the Venezuelan interior bent on revenge. Beyond the jungle in a dense forest, Abel finds an ethereal, innocent girl who has bonded completely with nature, although raised solely by her mysterious grandfather. Eventually, Abel must try and save the girl from her grandfather's duplicity and the susperstitions of meanacing natives while coming to terms with his own beliefs.
