The Merry Widow (1934) follows the story of Sonia, a fabulously wealthy widow from the small nation of Marshovia, where she holds significant financial influence. The country's economy relies heavily on her spending within its borders. When Sonia relocates to Paris in search of a suitable husband, the King of Marshovia dispatches Prince Danilo on a mission to woo her and persuade her to return. The stakes are high for Danilo, as his failure to complete this task could result in a court-martial.
