Paycheck (2003) follows Michael Jennings (Ben Affleck), a highly compensated engineer who specializes in confidential computer innovations and technology for dubious corporations. After his memory is erased, he finds himself unable to recall any details of his work. Jennings' acquaintance, Rethrick (Aaron Eckhardt), entices him with a substantial retirement fund to undertake a project at Rethrick's firm, Allcom. Upon emerging from the project three years later, Jennings discovers he has no memory of his work and is handed a mysterious envelope instead of his paycheck. The envelope contains enigmatic items he doesn't recognize, and he learns he voluntarily gave up his entire paycheck. Complicating matters, he has a captivating girlfriend, Dr. Rachel Porter (Uma Thurman), who is also entangled in the conspiracy. Jennings must decipher the clues he left for himself and uncover the reason why everyone is trying to eliminate him. This film is an adaptation of a thought-provoking sci-fi thriller novel by Philip K. Dick.
