Beverly Hills Cop (1984) follows the story of Axel Foley, a tenacious Detroit police officer portrayed by Eddie Murphy. His world is turned upside down when his close friend Mikey Tandino, who resides in California, is brutally murdered by a man named Zack right in front of him. Driven by vengeance, Axel trails Zack to the affluent city of Beverly Hills. There, he encounters Lieutenant Andrew Bogomil of the Beverly Hills Police Department, who assigns Detectives Billy Rosewood and Sergeant John Taggart to monitor Axel's activities. Axel seeks the assistance of his friend Jenny Summers, who works at an art gallery. Together, they uncover that Zack is employed by Jenny's boss, Victor Maitland, the gallery owner who is secretly a drug lord. Maitland had Zack eliminate Mikey after accusing him of stealing some of his bonds. With the support of Jenny, Billy, and Taggart, Axel works tirelessly to ensure that Maitland and Zack are brought to justice and prevented from harming anyone else.
