The Nanny Diaries (2007) follows the emotional and often amusing journey of Annie Braddock, a young woman from a working-class neighborhood in New Jersey, as she navigates her place in the world. Having recently graduated from college, Annie faces immense pressure from her nurse mother to secure a respectable position in the corporate world. However, Annie's true passion lies in anthropology, far removed from the corporate ladder. Through a fortunate encounter, Annie finds herself immersed in the elite and ritualistic culture of Manhattan's Upper East Side, a world as foreign to her as life in an Amazonian tribe. To escape the pressures of real life, Annie takes on the role of a nanny for a wealthy family known only as "the X's." She soon discovers that life on the other side of the tax bracket is not as glamorous as it seems, as she must cater to the demands of Mrs. X and her precocious son Grayer, while also avoiding the intimidating Mr. X. Annie's life becomes even more complicated when she develops feelings for a handsome neighbor, whom she affectionately calls "Harvard Hottie," ultimately forcing her to confront her true aspirations and desires.
