Scream 2 (1997) picks up a year after the chilling events of the original film, as director Wes Craven and writer Kevin Williamson reunite to continue the story. Following the release of a controversial book and subsequent movie adaptation, "Stab," based on the Woodsboro murders, the characters find themselves once again in the crosshairs of a masked killer. Sydney Prescott (Neve Campbell), now a college student, hopes to escape her past but is drawn back into the horror when two students are murdered in a manner eerily similar to the original slayings. Joined by her friends Randy (Jamie Kennedy) and Dewey (David Arquette), Sydney must confront the new wave of terror. The cast is rounded out by notable actors including Sarah Michelle Gellar, Laurie Metcalf, and Liev Schreiber, each adding to the suspense and intrigue as the killer strikes again.
