Desperate Housewives (TV Series) (2004) is an eight-season primetime drama that offers a modern and darkly comedic perspective on suburban life, where the lives of housewives are far from perfect. The story unfolds through the eyes of Mary Alice Young (Brenda Strong), who takes her own life and then narrates the secrets and dramas of her friends and neighbors from beyond the grave. Her circle includes Susan Mayer (Teri Hatcher), a divorcee navigating the complexities of love and motherhood; Lynette Scavo (Felicity Huffman), a former career woman struggling with her chaotic family life; Bree Van De Kamp (Marcia Cross), a perfectionist whose family is on the brink of rebellion; and Gabrielle Solis (Eva Longoria), an ex-model with a seemingly ideal life but a secret affair with the gardener, John (Jesse Metcalfe). The neighborhood is also home to Edie Britt (Nicollette Sheridan), a serial divorcee with a penchant for romantic conquests, and various men, including Mike Delfino (James Denton), a widowed plumber who catches the attention of Susan and Edie; Rex Van De Kamp (Steven Culp), Bree's husband seeking a divorce; Carlos Solis (Ricardo Antonio Chavira), Gabrielle's controlling husband; and Paul Young (Mark Moses), Mary Alice's widower with a mysterious agenda. From her unique perspective, Mary Alice reveals the hidden secrets and scandals that lurk behind the closed doors of this seemingly idyllic American suburb. The series is executive produced and written by Marc Cherry, with Michael Edelstein and Tom Spezialy as executive producers, and Charles Pratt Jr. as consulting producer, all from Touchstone Television.
