The Wind (1928) follows the journey of Letty, an innocent and impoverished young woman who ventures to the desolate Texas prairie, settling in a dusty town on her cousin's ranch. She dedicates herself to caring for the children but faces hostility from her cousin's wife, Cora (Dorothy Cumming), who is envious of Letty's bond with her husband and kids. With limited options, Letty is compelled to marry Lige (Lars Hanson), a gruff and uncivilized cowboy she does not love. One fateful night during a violent windstorm, with her husband away, Letty is relentlessly pursued and nearly assaulted by Roddy Wirt (Montagu Love), a married acquaintance.
