Passing Strange (TV) (2009) follows the journey of a young African American musician who embarks on a transformative adventure to defy his mother's expectations and the conventional life he was raised in. The protagonist seeks to discover "the real" by exploring different cities and cultures. His travels take him to Amsterdam, where he indulges in a hedonistic lifestyle filled with drugs and casual relationships. Later, in Berlin, he encounters a more artistic and politically charged environment. Here, he grapples with moral dilemmas when he falsely presents himself as impoverished to gain an advantage. The narrative is inspired by the life of Stew, who also serves as the narrator, adding a layer of personal authenticity to the story.
